Leaving Hanoi on dyke roads to avoid the heavy traffic and breaking out of the delta plains we pass through endless limestone karst scenery as we travel south through "Perfume Pagoda" country and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. Striking northwest and over two passes, finally dropping down to the mountain valley settlement of Mai Chau. Here we stay overnight with friends of the White Thai minority in a traditional stilt house. In the evening, after feasting, we can enjoy a cultural show of Thai dancing and a range of special local liquors. *Overnight in Mai Chau.
Getting out of the Red River Delta, which brims with traditional farming activity, we pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. We head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass, which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau
You’ll be met by your tour guide at Lao Cai Station. After having breakfast at local restaurant Visit Y Linh ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van villages of the H’mong and the Dzay minorities. After lunch at a local family in Ta Van, we keep on hiking around the village of the Dzay & H’mong where we stay overnight in a local family for you to get to know their daily life of the local people: work, custom, embroideries, clothes..Dinner at local family. Depart at 7.30 for Hoa Binh, stopping at Thai and Muong villages and the French built hydro-electric plant before reaching Mai Chau
Travelling by car from Hanoi this morning we head north towards Ba Be Lake. This drive of 270 km, which will take approximately 7 hours, takes us through the flatlands of the Red River Delta
The further we drive the more impressive the mountain scenery becomes, so we will wake up in anticipation for another great day on the road. We will visit small villages...
Arrive early in Lao Cai at 05 30 - 06 00 am, we get picked up by our private vehicle and start our drive up the spectacular Sapa pass, which is 1300 m high, 33 km long
Arrive Sapa in the morning; we have some free time to wander around, exploring this beautiful multi-ethnic town.
After breakfast, we drive for an hour to the Hmong village of Sa Linh, we spent about an hour walking around to see how the people of this isolated village do business and make their living
Today we get well and truly off the beaten track as we trek through tropical rain forest, using the local tracks and passing through cornfields as we descend in to Mai Chau Valley
Today you’ll take a scenic day trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc waterfall on the Chinese border.
Leaving Son La, we stop at a market in Thuan Chau, which is frequented by many hill tribes. Crossing over the Pha Din Pass we travel to Dien Bien Phu
